In 2016, an estimated 7.0 percent of people ages 12 years and older (824 people) misused opioids in Trinity County and 1.3 percent of people (149 people) had an opioid use disorder (OUD), defined as opioid abuse or dependence. As a result of these statistics, Mountain Communities saw a need in the community for a Medication Assisted Treatment Program (MAT).

Medicated Assisted Treatment (MAT) is the use of FDA-approved medications, in combination with counseling and behavioral therapies, to provide a “whole-patient” approach to the treatment of substance use disorders.

Our program commenced in early October 2019. Our current providers that are certified to prescribe Suboxone, a prescription medication used to treat opioid addition, are Heidi Johnson, NP, Matthew Butler, PA-C, and Julie Eaker, PA-C.

The clinics are accepting new patients into the Medicated Assisted Treatment Program.
